This is the second installment in a series of updates & discussions that will keep our members informed of what’s going on with Formula Pro Racing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2011 season is a few months away but things have changed, dramatically, for the Formula Pro Racing Series. Most of the changes are good ; but the one change that has continued to hurt us is the low attendance at races. While this is the same for all organizations it doesn’t help our situation. It is still up to our members and potential members to come out and race to bring back the big fields.

To that end, the biggest change  for FPR in 2011 will be the association with the South Jersey region of SCCA. We have been invited by the South Jersey region (area 84) to run our series with them and I believe it is a wonderful opportunity for FPR. All our races will be either regional or national SCCA which should help bring bigger fields. All FPR members will need to get SCCA licenses. If you don’t have an SCCA license they will be easy to obtain. Terry Hanushek is the South Jersey region Chief of Licensing, and he will help any FPR member obtain a regional license. To get a national license we still have our SCCA contact- Pete Smith , NE div Licensing Director. I will provide details with phone/email contacts at a latter time.

Our schedule will take us to Summit Point, NJMP and Watkins Glen. These are popular tracks so everyone should find it easy to come out and race.

We will have a new sponsor list, shortly, so it is important for all members to buy from the companies that support us.

FPR has been a club within the EMRA organization for 10 years. We have enjoyed our association with EMRA and we have grown considerably in those years. But the political “climate” has changed these past few years and EMRA board members no longer see the importance of supporting all their members. Since open wheel drivers are not given the same consideration as other drivers it became clear to me that we needed a new home. FPR is no longer a club within the EMRA organization and we look forward to our new association with SCCA.

The South Jersey region has welcomed us to their organization and I hope our members will show their support for SCCA and show up in big numbers at the races. I think you will find a higher level of professionalism and a better run race day at SCCA events.

Thank you,

Lindsey Wolfer - President FPR

Below is a link to a gear ratio analysis chart created by fellow FC Racer Phil Picard, It is posted here with his permission.  It is a MS Excel file and it is super easy to use.

Click here to open the Gear Comparison Program (Requires MS Excel)

There are 4 panes per track tab.  This allows you to view different combinations side by side for comparative gear samples. Input the data into the BLUE fields, program will calculate the RED.  Do not alter the RED fields.

In this Section of the page you will find links to other Formula Racing Related Web-Sites. The list will expand over time, and then be broken into categories.  If you have any links you want to see added, please contact us.
